Current Scouting Bio:

Ryan Mitchell currently serves as the Marketting & Communications Pillar Chair of the National Venturing Committee. Prior to this, he served as the Council Service Territory 8 Venturing Coordinator/ Advisor, and the Longhorn Council Venturing Advisor & Chairman.

Ryan grew up in a scouting family where his brother, father, and grandfather were all scouts, and his mom was his Den Leader and his brother’s Cubmaster, so he was surrounded by the program long before being able to join. He began his own Scouting career as a Cub Scout in Pack 817, earned his Arrow of Light, and then joined Troop 4 where he Achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. After earning Eagle Scout, Ryan was active in continuing his adventure through Sea Scout Ship 4 and Venturing Crew 707 during which, he earned the rank of Able, the Ranger Award, and the Venturing Silver Award (Now called the Venturing Summit Award).  

Ryan’s passion has always been Venturing though, after completing his term as Crew President, Ryan helped found the first Longhorn Council Venturing Officer’s Association in 2010, during which time Ryan and VOA Advisor James Tinker were asked to lead the Pilot course incorporating Co-Ed Venturers into the NYLT program during Twin Arrows/ NYLT Course 176 in 2010. Continuing his passion, Ryan went on to be the Area 2 & 3 VOA President, then later sat on the National Venturing Cabinet as the Southern Region Venturing President in 2012-2013 overseeing 60,000 Venturers across the Region and Overseas in our Direct Service Councils. 

While still a youth, Ryan was a voting member on the Region and National Boards, a member of the National Training, Youth Development, and Program Committees. In recognition of his service, Ryan has been awarded the Council, Area, Region and National Venturing Leadership Awards.

Professionally, Ryan has taken the skills learned from Merit Badges in Scouting, and has developed those skills into very successful businesses.  Previously having a Leather working company, and now the Managing Director of a very successful Media and Film Production Agency, RMI Group. RMI Group is a Creative Partnering Agency creating Commercials, Sports Broadcasts, TV shows, and Scouting Live-Streams.
